Exploring India’s Golden Triangle and Shekhawati Region
If you’re planning a trip to India, one of the most popular routes to take is the Golden Triangle, which connects the cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. The name comes from the triangle shape formed on a map when you connect these three cities. Not only do these cities offer a glimpse into India’s rich history and culture, but they also have some of the most visited and interesting tourist attractions in the country.
The tour usually starts with Delhi, the capital of India. Delhi is a city of contrasts, where ancient traditions blend in with modernity. It has a rich history that can be traced back to the 6th century BC. Some of the must-visit sites in Delhi include the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Jama Masjid, Lotus Temple, and the Akshardham Temple.
The next stop on the Golden Triangle is Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture and is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Other attractions in Agra include the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri.
Jaipur is the third and final city on the Golden Triangle. It is also known as the Pink City because of the pink-colored buildings in the old part of the city. Jaipur is famous for its rich history, colorful culture, and magnificent palaces. Some of the must-visit sites in Jaipur include the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, and Jantar Mantar.
In addition to the Golden Triangle, the tour also includes a visit to the Shekhawati region, also known as the Open Art Gallery. This region is located in the northeastern part of Rajasthan and is known for its beautiful frescoes and murals. The Shekhawati region is dotted with numerous temples, havelis, and forts that showcase the intricate and forgotten art skills of Rajasthan. Some of the must-visit sites in the Shekhawati region include the Mandawa Fort, Nawalgarh Fort, and the Haveli of Fatehpur.
India’s Golden Triangle and Shekhawati region offer a glimpse into the rich history and culture of India. From the bustling streets of Delhi to the magnificent Taj Mahal in Agra, to the colorful Pink City of Jaipur, and the beautiful frescoes and murals of the Shekhawati region, this tour has something for everyone.
